Yesterday was a busy
travel/paperwork day. We started at the Registrar’s office where we got
the girls the morning before. We were all worried that they would think we were
taking them back. All was well and they didn’t seem to notice. We got our official
adoption certificate and THEY ARE OFFICIALLY OURS! Then we went to the notary
office and hiked up 6 flights of stairs to turn in 3 hours of paperwork that we
did the night before. the registrar said that they were increasing the fee
soon so in the meantime they were not going to charge us a fee. Thank the Lord!
That saved us over $500. After the notary we came back and ate lunch and then
got on a van for XuChang, the girls home town. It was 2.5 hrs. of scary driving
but we all survived. I’ll tell those stories once home. Wow do they drive crazy
and fast. Even our guide was scared. We got back after 7pm, ate dinner and
headed to bed. Today has been the first day that we had nothing to do. We found
a park a few blocks away. It is more of a garden with a lake and lots of people
exercising, singing, dancing and playing card games. It was at least a mile
around the outside of the part we were in but there was more on the other side
of the lake. We found a small area with bumper cars, carnival rides. Jay
enjoyed that a lot. It was nice to find something that he enjoyed today. He has
been really good and been helpful carrying things and playing with his sisters.
We will be able to tour here in
Zhengzhou the next few days if we want or we can just enjoy not having a schedule.
Saturday we fly to Guangzhou where the US consulate is located. We’ll have our
appointment on the 29th and then home on the 31st.
The girls are really funny.
Mabree is outgoing and a bull in the China closet kind of personality. She is
so sweet and eager to please, but a little rough at times with her love. J
Madelyn is quiet and shy and a bit more of a momma’s girl at this point. She is
snuggly and it is hard to put her down she is so sweet. They are so smart and
are saying a few more words, momma, baba(daddy), guh guh(big brother). They are
copycats and if one if in my lap the other has to be too. They are sleeping
great for the two nights we’ve had them. This morning they ate rice pudding,
cantaloupe, yogurt, noodles, congee(a rice soup, sort of) and muffin. Almost
everything we offered them they ate.
