Officially Ours forever -October 22, 2014

Yesterday was a busy travel/paperwork day. We started at the Registrar’s  office where we got the girls the morning before. We were all worried that they would think we were taking them back. All was well and they didn’t seem to notice. We got our official adoption certificate and THEY ARE OFFICIALLY OURS! Then we went to the notary office and hiked up 6 flights of stairs to turn in 3 hours of paperwork that we did the night before. the registrar said that they were increasing the fee soon so in the meantime they were not going to charge us a fee. Thank the Lord! That saved us over $500. After the notary we came back and ate lunch and then got on a van for XuChang, the girls home town. It was 2.5 hrs. of scary driving but we all survived. I’ll tell those stories once home. Wow do they drive crazy and fast. Even our guide was scared. We got back after 7pm, ate dinner and headed to bed. Today has been the first day that we had nothing to do. We found a park a few blocks away. It is more of a garden with a lake and lots of people exercising, singing, dancing and playing card games. It was at least a mile around the outside of the part we were in but there was more on the other side of the lake. We found a small area with bumper cars, carnival rides. Jay enjoyed that a lot. It was nice to find something that he enjoyed today. He has been really good and been helpful carrying things and playing with his sisters.

We will be able to tour here in Zhengzhou the next few days if we want or we can just enjoy not having a schedule. Saturday we fly to Guangzhou where the US consulate is located. We’ll have our appointment on the 29th and then home on the 31st.

The girls are really funny. Mabree is outgoing and a bull in the China closet kind of personality. She is so sweet and eager to please, but a little rough at times with her love. J Madelyn is quiet and shy and a bit more of a momma’s girl at this point. She is snuggly and it is hard to put her down she is so sweet. They are so smart and are saying a few more words, momma, baba(daddy), guh guh(big brother). They are copycats and if one if in my lap the other has to be too. They are sleeping great for the two nights we’ve had them. This morning they ate rice pudding, cantaloupe, yogurt, noodles, congee(a rice soup, sort of) and muffin. Almost everything we offered them they ate.

I was happy to skype with my Missouri boys this morning and last night. Sure do miss you boys!!!!

WE HAVE THEM!! October 20th, 2014

We have them and they are fantastic!! They cried pretty hard and then slowly started to accept us. Jay had Madelyn smiling and laughing on the bus back to the hotel. They love the bubbles and are having fun chasing them and popping them. They are full of energy and are going to keep us hopping. They are chunky and bigger than I thought they would be but I think our 24month clothes are going to work. They are smart and are already copying words that we are saying like “bubble”. They copy each other. When one does something the other follows right behind.

Today's the day.

Eeeek, today is the day. We leave in an hour and a half to meet the girls. It’s 8:00am here. We will have paperwork and then return here around noon, I think. I’ll post pictures for you to wake up to. Love you all.

ZhengZhou Oct 19th, 2014

We flew this morning to ZhengZhou, pronounced Jin-Joe, we have a beautiful hotel room that now has two cribs in it. J Jason and all the Dad’s in the group went to the bank with our guide to exchange money then we all went to Wal-Mart for baby formula and whatever else you felt you needed.  The traffic is crazy here. Tons of cars and mopeds everywhere. We walk everywhere so you have to be careful that you don’t get run over, really.

We will leave the hotel at 9:30 am to get our kids. I will post as soon as I can once we get back to the hotel. Please pray that the internet is working so we can share photos with you. We are a little weary of jetlag and breathing smog. The air here is horrible and smells rather unique. Anyway, we are excited to finally be getting our girls.  Can you believe it is tomorrow. Please be in prayer for all of us but especially Madelyn and Mabree. Their whole world is changing TOMORROW!! No new pics as it was a travel day. We feel like we have been gone forever already and are missing home but trying to soak in every bit of China so we can share our experiences with the girls when they’re older.

Now off to bed soon, if we can sleep.

Love to you all. Someone find my boys and squeeze them for me. Missing you boys!!!

Jade Factory and lunch

October 18th, 2014 The Great Wall

We just climbed the great wall. Our guide says that we are now hero’s. Haha It is a long way up but the view was fabulous.  We made it to the second station, not all the way to the top. I don’t think I could have walked down if we’d done the whole thing. We found a scenic windy way down that was quiet and didn’t have anyone on it. Very peaceful and pretty. The history and architecture here is amazing. Tonight we will see the Chinese acrobats show and then return to the hotel to pack everything up. We leave at 6:30 am for the airport to catch a flight to ZhengZhou. We will get the girls the next day. It was a fun day. The first pic is our group. They are all bible believing folks and so that is making this trip even more enjoyable. We will definitely we lifelong friends for sure.
